How to catch CRM integration field-mapping changes before they break a sync

Field mappings decide which CRM property receives which value from another app. When a mapping is switched off or pointed at a different property, data stops flowing quietly. Comparing snapshots makes those changes visible.

What a field mapping controls

HubSpot's documentation says data sync field mappings control how HubSpot properties sync with fields in a connected app. They decide which data syncs, in which direction, and how conflicts are handled.

Some mappings have extra rules, according to HubSpot:

A change to any of these can stop data from flowing without an obvious error.

1. Take a snapshot

Save the current mappings in a simple, repeatable format. Either form works:

Copy the mappings from your integration's settings screen, or from your own integration's config file if you built it. Store each snapshot with a date in the file name.

2. Snapshot again after any change

Take a new snapshot after an app update, a new custom property, a permission change or an admin's clean-up.

3. Compare the two snapshots

For each field, there are three outcomes to look at:

Do the comparison in your browser

The free CRM mapping diff takes two snapshots (JSON or CSV) and lists removed, changed and new mappings. In JSON, nested keys are flattened and compared one by one.

It makes no connection to your CRM, and the snapshots never leave your device. A change does not always mean something broke; it means someone should look.
